Re[133]: Avionics Bay - color? Name: phoenix Date: 2004/07/21(Wed) 20:56  No.134    [Reply]
Hello Kevin,
If you mean the avionics bay behind the pilot, it's white, but the box with the avionics stuff in it is black.
It's not only 963, all the F-15Js are like that.
Hope it helps,
phoenix

Avionics Bay - color? Name: Kevin Date: 2004/07/21(Wed) 08:07  No.133     [Reply]
Can anyone tell me what color the avionics bay (Bay 5) is on an F-15J, or even better, specifically 963?

Thanks.

Kazuo-san,
Do you know what the colors or operational markings are for the AAM-4? I am trying to build an F-15J with an AAM-4 loadout.
Once again Thanks in Advance,
Richard

What a cool looking machine on F-15DJ.com!
It's becoming more and more difficult to keep up with these painting schemes!
Any more pictures available?
Thanks and best regards

Hi Richard:
What I see in my JASDF references it seems to be hanging on the current fighters quite frequently. I believe it's pretty operational.

Hello, Mario.
How are you?
You can find two more pictures of 912 in Mr.Keroyon's HP:

http://homepage3.nifty.com/kyuun/page128.html

Is a very good site for pictures of Nyutabaru AB and the AGR planes, like these others links:

http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~Nyuta/masa.htm

http://www.alien-2003.net/index.html

http://sabre.hp.infoseek.co.jp/

By the way, Mr.Spica has just opened his report of the '04 Senkyo. The pictures (and the comments of the SPM) are very cool:

Hi Mario,
OK, I'll send it another day.
It's really big, so I'm still trying to shrink it.

I would say the relation between F-2 and F-16 is something like the Strike Eagle and normal Eagle.
Looks the same, but not at all in the insides.
But sorry, I don't know the difference between XF-2 and production F-2.
I'll try asking somewhere.

Thanks, phoenix

Hey phoenix:
Go ahead, send the picture.
Thanks for info on F-2.
So I was pretty right having said it was (F-2) basically new design. Would you know if there was a major difference between XF-2 and production model? I built production F-2A from 1/72 XF-2A Hasegawa kit, just put that nice blue-blue camo and Platz decals on, hope I was right.
All best

Hi Mario,
I've taken a photo of the Hornet model, but it's about 1.2Mega-bytes.
If that's all right, I'll send you it.
But it's not very good.

About the F-2.
It is a sort of a Japanese-version of the F-16.
The F-16 was one of the nominees for the F-1 successor, but Japan was not satisfied with any of the current aircrafts.
So, they decided to develop a new one. But that really isn't fair, because that is compairing an airplane that hasn't even flown with current aircrafts.
And the US goverment partially forced Japan to use one of theirs as the model for that new fighter. That happened to be the F-16.
So the new fighter, F-2, turned out to be very similar with the F-16.
But the wing and horizontal stabilizer spread has increased, for manueverability(is the spelling OK?).
Also, the computers and stuff are newer.
Not only that, the structure and stuff is totally different.
So that means the F-2 looks very much like the F-16, but the insides are a totally different airplane.

Hope the helps,
phoenix

Hola Javi,
Muchas gracias.
Very interesting and inspiring. What do you know about Mitsubishi F-2, or anybody else here?
Reason I'm asking I had little argument elsewhere as was told it's japanese "variant" of F-16!

Hi Mario, I've finished my Hornet!!
This time I can keep the canopy open.
I'd say this one is a success.
I'll try an F-86F of the JASDF next time.
If the Sabre goes well, I'll go for 'Eiko'.

Glad to hear the info's good.
Good luck on your 104,
phoenix

Hey phoenix,
Domo arigato for both postings. Color mixes are not confusing, I understand that. Very helpful, thanks.
Glad to hear Hornet is coming to finish. If painting goes well my "Eiko" could be done in 2 weeks. Then I'm eager to move on to F-15DJ most likely thinking about T-4 and F-1 too.
All best
Mario

Hello Mario.
Do you mean an '84 Senkyo 207 Sq. F-104J, isn't it?

Green Arrow's book says they were painted "Medium Blue-Grey" (upper/lower surfaces) and "Light Blue-Grey" (mid-fuselage). Not very helpful, I'm afraid!

Hi, Mario:
My Hornet is almost finished!! A touch of paint and few more decals, and it'll be finished.
I tried making the "remove before flight" ribbons this time, but it doesn't look as good as I hoped.
But I didn't lose any pieces this time, like last time.

About your 655, I don't know about the paintings yet, but I'll try asking.
I'll write in this Board if I get any info.

Thanks,
phoenix

Hi phoenix,
How's your Hornet kit progressing? I've put together 1/72 F-104J JASDF (Hasegawa, great kit) and moving on the painting. What keeps puzzling me is the lack of information on JASDF colors, well at least here in US. I'm working on "655" with sharkmouth and will have to paint according to instructions even if couple of pics I found suggest slightly different shades. Don't you know any JASDF kit builders who could help?
All best
Mario
